The Story Behind Sky-Hy
Gord and Mary Blatz live in a log home on the heritage farm. It has a warm, comfortable feeling, which is where we got the inspiration for the decor of our restaurant. Mary has always had a love of cooking and baking for her family while growing up in a family of 13. Gord has always farmed and has a true love of taking care of the land and animals under his care. He has often dreamed of being a farm-to-fork guy. Life is wonderful, and the feeling is good about being able to serve people with his wonderful wife, Mary, who has 30-plus years of experience in the restaurant business. This is where the heart lives, and it feels like home.
The name Sky Hy Restaurant and Lounge came about because of our location. Steinbach Airport is next to us, so we are known as a fly-in restaurant destination. Located just off PTH 12 North, we are next to the famous Mennonite Village Museum. Hence, Sky Hy Restaurant and Lounge was born: Sky Hy from the plains and Hy from Highway.einbach.
